BACKGROUND OF THE CHALLENGE
Personnel transfer from marine support vessel to offshore platforms and vice versa is conducted at boat landing facility typically using swing rope. Due to frequent contact impact, boat landing structures will be damaged and may pose safety hazard to offshore personnel involved and possible disruption to operation activities. Most of the existing boat landing structure is grouted or equipped with rubber strip to protect from boat impact energy.
THE WINNING SOLUTION
Winner: Bermuda Subsea (M) Sdn Bhd
The challenge received an encouraging participation from both local and international companies. Upon a comprehensive assessment by a panel of internal subject matter experts, TGUARD-50 Fender proposed by Bermuda Subsea (M) Sdn Bhd has been chosen as the winning solution. The solution provides a high impact energy absorption, allowing ease of installation and maintenance while being cost-efficient.
Boat landing facilities are designed for personnel transfer from marine support vessel to offshore platforms and vice versa. The solution proposed is able to limit boat impact damaging the structures that pose safety hazard to offshore personnel involved. By using this solution, the danger is very much averted and reduce the possible disruption to operation activities.
