Events
The Auxiliary Police (AP) force at PIC received a total of 4 units of marked mobile patrol vehicles and a simple yet meaningful ceremony to mark the occasion was held on 30 January 2019 in PIC.
Speaking at the event, Head of HSSE, En Saifuddin Shah bin Sowkkatali said that the newly added mobile patrol vehicles is part of the key strategies planned under the PIC Security Operations in gearing towards effective security management in the operations phase.
“It is vital that you continuously upskill your capabilities in order to serve and protect the PIC especially since the General Operation Force (GOF) will be thinning out once PIC commences Commercial Operations in 1 October 2019”, he further added in addressing the AP personnel at the event. He also restated that in the operations phase, the challenges would be more serious, as PIC area would be exposed to hydrocarbon activities. It is noteworthy that with the additional units of the mobile patrol vehicles, the AP mobile patrol is now able to cover the perimeter radius of 8 km from end to end and approximately 34 km of PIC fence area with ease and greater efficiency. Additionally this will also ensure that ZeTo rules governing traffic regulations within the PIC site is strictly adhered and any violation is addressed timely.
Eventually the AP will be the main security force to safeguard PIC and all its assets therefore it is imperative that knowledge transfer from the current PIC Security officers happens concurrently with the APs themselves taking on the challenge to continuously upskill their knowledge in the field of security.
The event came to an end with the presentation of the Focused Recognition awards to two AP personnel for their exemplary conduct while on duty.
