ORCA has delivered its first external deployment as part of the POTF product to one of the ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc (EMEPMI)in the Malaysia operating regions. The job was completed in March 2023 after the client received the final report. The deployment of the ORCA inspection is at one of the gas-lift pipelines, and the pipeline has been operated since 1985 with a diameter of 10 inches. The scope of inspection coverage was up to 500 meters, respectively, which covers the launcher, vertical riser sections, and horizontal section of the subsea pipeline.
ORCA utilises Acoustic Emission (AE) technology to identify and locate corrosion events from the sound of active corrosion formation with the application of Machine Learning (ML) to perform data analysis of the corrosion depth profiles. This ML model is proprietary and developed by PETRONAS.
The data analysis has been completed within the agreed duration, with some calibration and validation on the ML model. It is inclusive of model retraining to ascertain the result’s confidence level. Several challenge sessions have been conducted with EMEPMI, providing valuable technical input to discover the technical solution and strengthen the confidence level. The final presentation was done in March 2023, and the client accepted the result.
