PIC is among the biggest integrated petrochemical facilities in the region, and is PETRONAS' most significant downstream investment to date - amounting to USD27 billion.
It forms part of the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC), endorsed by the state government of Johor and the Federal Government, and is expected to transform Pengerang and Malaysia into a regional oil and gas powerhouse.
At the heart of the PIC is a multi-train refinery that processes imported crude oil into higher grade fuels for the nation's increasingly discerning consumption demand. The refinery also produces feedstock for the adjacent steam cracker complex which breaks this further into raw materials to feed PIC's petrochemical complex.
The petrochemical complex churns out a wide range of products, mostly premium and differentiated petrochemicals used to manufacture a variety of high-demand, higher-end consumer products.
