On 29 May 2020, Vestigo Petroleum, operator of the Tembikai field successfully achieved its inaugural hydrocarbon flow for the Tembikai Non-Associated Gas (TNAG) development after 1.5 years of project sanction. It was achieved from a newly installed minimum facility via a new pipeline to the existing floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) Berantai. The project is located at offshore Terengganu, Malaysia.

In line with the Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM)’s aspiration to unlock value through new technology, a simple and modular structure known as ZEEPod has been installed to monetise and enable viable development for this small field. ZEEPod is easy to fabricate and was constructed within five (5) months from 1st steel cut in comparison to 9-12 months for conventional fabrication.

The TNAG pipeline has also adopted the Mechanical Interference Fit Concept known as Zaplok™ - the longest offshore pipeline using this concept which requires no welding. In return it saves time, cost and manpower for an efficient and safe field development.

In addition, five (5) slimhole monobore development wells were drilled at USD 3 million cost per well. Three (3) out of five (5)  wells were drilled and completed in 7 days. The drilling campaign was completed swiftly and efficiently within 55 days while safety was observed as utmost priority.

PETRONAS applauds this momentous achievement through the use of new technology and collaboration involved for the development of TNAG.
