KOTA KINABALU, 23 August 2024 – Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor today celebrated the achievements of PETRONAS Powering Knowledge Education Sponsorship 2024 recipients who were among Sabah's Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia 2023 top performers.
During the session at Menara Kinabalu, the recipients had the opportunity to interact with Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji and PETRONAS officials, including Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management Datuk Ir Bacho Pilong, creating a memorable moment that highlighted their hard work and dedication.
Datuk Ir Bacho said, “Through our Powering Knowledge initiative, PETRONAS is dedicated to support the next generation of leaders. By enabling deserving recipients to realise their career aspirations through this education sponsorship award, PETRONAS continues to contribute to a sustainable talent pipeline for the industry. We believe these outstanding students will drive innovation and excellence, creating a brighter future for all as we progress collectively as a nation.”
Among those present at the event were State Education Department Director Datuk Raisin Saidin; PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Global HR Partners Downstream, Luqmahani Mustafa Kamal; PETRONAS Sabah and Labuan Regional Office General Manager Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab; and PETRONAS Human Capital Investment General Manager Syed Mohammad Muhafiz Syed Mohd Bakar.
These students are among the 600 recipients nationwide who are awarded with PETRONAS Powering Knowledge Education Sponsorship in 2024 to pursue their tertiary education at top local and international universities.
Among courses offered under the programme include Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics, Accounting, Marketing, Law, Data Science, and Software Engineering.
Since 1975, PETRONAS has empowered more than 38,000 young Malaysians from diverse backgrounds through a range of educational programmes, enabling them to pursue their goals and contribute to the future of the nation.
