Caring for Human and Society
Program Hijaukan Bumiku at Sultan Zainal Abidin University Malaysia (UniSZA)
This programme focuses on enhancing ecosystem quality in the Terengganu region, where many of our primary plants are located.
To deliver the programme, we have engaged in partnerships with local authorities, regulators, universities and NGOs including the DoE, UniSZA, the Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia and the Department of Agriculture.
Held in conjunction with Hari Alam Sekitar Negara 2023 and Karnival Lestari Pantai Timur 2023, the programme spearheaded the planting of 1,000 trees to aid carbon removal and ecosystem strengthening. As part of our contribution, we planted a total of 230 seedlings.
Automated Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)
Distributed Acoustic System (DAS) functions to generate Global Positioning System coordinate for on-call personnel to take action, with the effectiveness of the action depends on distance, location, and time. UAS complements DAS by performing deterrent mission if there is encroachment activity detected by DAS within the Right-of-Way.
UAS with Beyond Visual Line of Sight Operation (BVLOS) is able to be implemented without means of human vision mitigation. The installation has been completed with Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia Special UAS Project approval for all 13 locations.
Capture and/or Monetise Emissions
We are collaborating with PETRONAS to capture not only inherent CO2 but also post-combustion CO2 as part of the roadmap to net zero, with nearly 1.70 million tCO2e per annum from inherent CO2 alone. We have also put in place a plan to address post-combustion emissions through fuel switching in electrification for gas and steam turbines.
We have been generating revenue from the sales of CO2 since the early 2000s and, in 2023, monetisation from CO2 sales contributed to the reduction of 0.2 million tCO2e of GHG emissions
