PETRONAS and Sarawak State Government Commemorate Achievements in Oil & Gas Industry

BINTULU, 23 August 2022 – PETRONAS and the Sarawak State Government yesterday commemorated their strategic collaboration achievements in the development of the oil and gas industry in Sarawak.

PETRONAS Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh (third left) hands over a token of appreciation to one of the representatives of PETRONAS vendors and witnessed by Premier of Sarawak YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg (centre) and other distinguished guests.

The ceremony was witnessed by Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg. Also present were Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, PETRONAS Chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh and PETRONAS President & Group CEO Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik.

The event was held on the sidelines of the Sarawak-PETRONAS Annual Strategic Dialogue (ASD) 2022 here. The ASD is a key platform to strengthen collaboration between PETRONAS and the Sarawak State Government in the oil and gas industry. Through this platform, both parties are committed towards enhancing a stable, conducive business and investment environment for the industry’s sustainable growth in the State.

In his speech, Advisor for Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), Datuk Haji Mohd Naroden bin Haji Majais urged more Sarawakian companies “to capture the opportunities, be more competitive and keep up-to-date with the current energy industry trends.”

PETRONAS Vice President of Group Procurement, Freida Amat stressed that both Sarawak State Government and PETRONAS are committed to nurture a robust Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) ecosystem.

“Continuous efforts are focused on enhancing the capability and capacity of Sarawakian companies, a progressive journey which will bring about longer-term impact” she said.

During the ceremony, some 11 representatives of PETRONAS vendors from Sarawak also received tokens of appreciation as a symbolic commemoration of the success of Sarawak companies in the oil and gas industry.
