Kuala Lumpur, 10 April 2020 – The Association of Wives and Women Employees of PETRONAS (PETRONITA) has contributed RM255,000 worth of critically needed medical equipment and supplies via its COVID-19 Donation Drive to hospitals as well as healthcare front-liners battling the coronavirus pandemic.
The Donation Drive that ran from 20 March to 5 April 2020, saw the collection of funds from PETRONAS employees, their families as well as the public.
In the past week, Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), Hospital Ampang, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HTCM) and Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM) and their healthcare staff have received the medical equipment that included powered air-(PAPR), portable purifying respirator and video laryngoscope as well as supplies such as refrigerators, air purifiers, standing fans, ward screens, bottles of mineral water and toiletries sets.
PETRONITA President Puan Sri Dr Azura Ahmad Tajuddin said: “While all of Malaysia is staying safe at home, a large group of our healthcare workers are working diligently to ensure our safety. With them being at the forefront, it is imperative that their own health and wellbeing are taken care of. As a token of appreciation, we hope this aid that PETRONITA is providing will ease their burden and help keep their spirits high.”
The PETRONITA COVID-19 Donation Drive complements PETRONAS’ contribution of RM20 million worth of medical equipment and supplies to help hospitals and healthcare front-liners mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia through its CSR arm, Yayasan PETRONAS. Contributions from other PETRONAS businesses and employees have also been channelled to identified hospitals and healthcare front-liners, totalling more than RM1.5 million to date.
Over the years, PETRONITA has embarked on many initiatives including its signature Orchid Run & Ride programme aimed at raising funds for charitable causes and promoting awareness on health.
