A total of 22 artworks by prominent glass artists from the Czech Republic are being showcased in GALERI PETRONAS’ latest exhibition, Concerto Glassico: The Czech Art of Glass launched today.
Held for the first time outside the Czech Republic, the exhibition features the works of 12 glassmakers including Stanislav Libenský & Jaroslava Brychtová, Vladimír Kopecký, Vladimír Procházka, Jaroslav Svoboda, Marian Karel, Oldřich Plíva, Petr Hora, Pavel Hlava, Vladimir Klein, František Janák, Jiří Pačinek and Tomáš Hlavička.
Speaking at the exhibition launch, PETRONAS’ Senior General Manager Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah (Liza) Abdul Rahman said, “GALERI PETRONAS’ Corporate Cultural Diplomacy programme such as this exhibition is part of our efforts to continue fostering and strengthening intercultural relationships and understanding.
“To us, as a fully-integrated oil and gas multinational corporation operating in more than 50 countries, deep understanding and appreciation of cultural diversities are of paramount importance.
"We hope this relationship will lead to similar cultural exchanges and collaborations in the future to create a more holistic society through the promotion of innovation and creativity.”
The launch was also attended by H.E. Mr. Rudolf Hykl, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Czech Republic to Malaysia.
Curated by Mr. Miroslav Vojtěchovský, the exhibition seeks to highlight glass sculptures as a contemporary, artistic endeavour which combines craft with the Bohemian glass-art tradition.
Concerto Glassico: The Czech Art of Glass is open for public viewing at GALERI PETRONAS located Level 3, Suria KLCC from 2 May until 11 June 2017. Admission is free.
