PETRONAS Celebrates Malaysians’ Caring Culture Through ‘PenJAGA’

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 August 2024 – In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day, PETRONAS presents ‘PenJAGA,’ a heartwarming film that celebrates the values that unite and bind our diverse nation.

Directed by renowned director Hyrul Anuar, ‘PenJAGA’ captures the essence of Malaysia's unique culture of caring. It reflects how Malaysians’ collective compassion and understanding contribute to a resilient and harmonious society.

Set in a charming and typical Malaysian flat where people from diverse races live together harmoniously, the film tells the story of a community that supports and looks out for each other.

Starring award-winning local actor Beto Kusyairi as Faizul, the community’s dedicated security guard who consistently goes above and beyond his duties to assist his neighbors, the story unfolds with him being pleasantly surprised by the support he receives from those around him.

“This film highlights the spirit of neighbourliness, symbolising the strong unity among Malaysians. The story of ‘PenJAGA’ inspires us to continue caring for one another, shaping a spirit of independence that is resilient, harmonious, and progressive. Aligned with PETRONAS' 50^th anniversary celebration this year, 'Continuing a legacy together for our future,' the film is also a reminder that we owe our solid foundation to those who have supported us in good faith that we will continue to make Malaysia proud, locally and abroad,” said PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Strategic Communications, Group Strategic Relations and Communications, Siti Azlina Abdul Latif.
