Update on Fire Incident Aboard MV Geos

PETRONAS regrets to inform that one crew member aboard the MV Geos, which caught fire at 3.15am, is still missing. The rest of the 38 crew members have safely arrived in Miri, with two sustaining injuries and taken to the Miri General Hospital. 

The fire has been extinguished and the vessel is being monitored while search and rescue efforts are being conducted. 

The vessel, owned by Asian Geos Sdn Bhd, was conducting geo-technical survey for PETRONAS, 10km off the coast of Baram. 

PETRONAS is working closely with Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and other relevant authorities on the search and rescue efforts, and is extending its full support to those affected by the incident.
