KUALA LUMPUR, 8 November 2022 – PETRONAS is extending its sustainability solutions to the Middle Eastern market via six new supply and commercialisation collaborations at the recent Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2022.
Its technology commercialisation arm, PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (PTVSB), sealed commercial agreements with Sigma Enterprises, a company of Mazrui Energy Services for the deployment of SolidClenz and ProAssure Wrap technologies as well as with Euro-Circuit Technology Sdn. Bhd. to supply Bio-Solv, a sustainable and biodegradable water-based chemical for desanding, desludging, degreasing and cleaning applications.
SolidClenz™ is a custom-designed technology used to remove solid deposits for wells, pipelines and heat exchangers to increase well flow and enhance production, while ProAssure™ Wrap is an overwrap pipeline repair system that is based on high strength composite materials.
PTVSB also signed Heads of Agreement (HOA) with Petrofac to consider options for the commercialisation of PETRONAS’ proprietary Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser for hydrogen production. Further to this, PTVSB has entered into a HOA with SEDC Energy Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation to not only establish a PEM assembly plant in Sarawak to support a growing demand for PEM electrolysers worldwide, but also to explore other green hydrogen technology deployment in Sarawak as well as other regions.
Additionally, PTVSB signed a HOA with Aerodyne Group to explore commercialisation arrangements on adoption of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drone-assisted technologies and solutions, focusing on hydrogen-powered drones, methane leakages detection, large scale multi payload drone delivery system, nested drones, and PETRONAS' unmanned traffic management.
The company also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Connexx Systems Corporation to explore adoption of PETRONAS’ graphene formulation for batteries, to meet the increasing demand for higher battery efficiency in tandem with the rise of electric vehicles.
PETRONAS Senior Vice President of Project Delivery and Technology, Datuk Bacho Pilong said, “We are excited to enter into the Middle Eastern market and work together with our new partners to widen the reach of PETRONAS innovations, so that more companies and customers can benefit from our solutions which bear the hallmarks of being safe, responsible, cost-optimised, and emissions-abated just like PETRONAS’ energy offerings.
